Este problema podr\u00eda resolverse con un chip fot\u00f3nico que <strong>trasmite 1,84 petabits de datos <\/strong>por segundo a trav\u00e9s de un cable de fibra \u00f3ptica.<\/p>\n<p>Un grupo integrado por ingenieros de la Universidad T\u00e9cnica de Dinamarca en Copenhague y la Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de Chalmers ha batido el r\u00e9cord de velocidad para la transmisi\u00f3n de datos empleando un chip \u00f3ptico.<\/p>\n<p>Concretamente se han transferido datos a una velocidad de 1,84 petabits por segundo, lo que ser\u00eda <strong>casi el doble del tr\u00e1fico total de Internet <\/strong>por segundo.<\/p>\n<p>Como para tener una idea m\u00e1s cabal de esta tecnolog\u00eda, es el equivalente a tener un ancho de banda suficiente para ser capaces de descargar <strong>230 millones de fotograf\u00edas<\/strong> en segundos.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sp__Normal embed-box embed-body-photo\" data-index=\"1\">\n<picture class=\"pointer\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-expand\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarin.com\/img\/2022\/10\/26\/RXSaLbTcZ_720x0__1.jpg\" alt=\"Un banda ancha s\u00faper potente. El ingeniero Asbj\u00f8rn Arvad J\u00f8rgensen, de la Universidad T\u00e9cnica de Dinamarca, y su equipo de investigadores de Suecia y Jap\u00f3n, han dado con esta soluci\u00f3n que podr\u00eda llegar a alcanzar velocidades de hasta <strong>100 petabits por segundo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Este tipo de tecnolog\u00eda que utiliza chips fot\u00f3nicos es muy prometedora para llevar a cabo la transferencia \u00f3ptica de datos, dado que el procesador y el medio de transporte funcionan con ondas de luz.<\/p>\n<p>La t\u00e9cnica que han desarrollado los ingenieros consiste en la emisi\u00f3n de un l\u00e1ser infrarrojo en un chip que divide la luz en cientos de colores o frecuencias diferentes.<\/p>\n<p>Al modular la amplitud, la fase y la polarizaci\u00f3n de cada una de estas frecuencias, es posible codificar los datos en la luz antes de recombinar las frecuencias en un solo haz y transferirlo por fibra \u00f3ptica.<\/p>\n<h2>Una soluci\u00f3n escalable<\/h2>\n<div class=\"sp__Normal embed-box embed-body-photo\" data-index=\"2\">\n<picture class=\"pointer\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-expand\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarin.com\/img\/2022\/10\/27\/z9fi_ucF7_720x0__1.jpg\" alt=\"Foto: Bloomberg\"\/><br \/>\n<span class=\"bt-expand\"><br \/>\n<svg class=\"ico white_mod\">\n<use class=\"use-expand\" xlink:href=\"#icon-expand\"\/>\n<\/svg><br \/>\n<\/span>\n<\/picture><figcaption>Foto: Bloomberg <\/figcaption><\/div>\n<p>Leif Katsuo Oxenl\u00f8we, profesor y autor del estudio, explica que la soluci\u00f3n que han desarrollado \u00abes escalable, tanto en t\u00e9rminos de crear muchas frecuencias como de dividir el chip en muchas copias espaciales y luego amplificarlas \u00f3pticamente y usarlas como fuentes paralelas con las que podemos transmitir datos\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>El investigador a\u00f1ade que, pese a que \u00ablas copias del chip deben amplificarse, no perdemos las cualidades del mismo, que utilizamos para la transmisi\u00f3n de datos espectralmente eficiente\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>J\u00f8rgensen, coautor de la investigaci\u00f3n, explicaba a la revista de divulgaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica New Scientist que la transmisi\u00f3n de datos de 1,84 petabits se realiz\u00f3 a trav\u00e9s de un <strong>cable de fibra de 7,9 kil\u00f3metros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Para ello, emplearon un \u00fanico chip fot\u00f3nico con una tecnolog\u00eda que hace que los componentes \u00f3pticos se conviertan en chips de computadora, para as\u00ed dividir un flujo de datos en m\u00faltiples canales separados.<\/p>\n<p>Los ingenieros dividieron primero la transmisi\u00f3n en 37 secciones para cada n\u00facleo de cable de fibra \u00f3ptica y despu\u00e9s dividieron las 37 secciones en 223 trozos de datos en el espectro electromagn\u00e9tico.<\/p>\n<p>Transmitieron todos los datos de una vez a trav\u00e9s de un cable de casi 8 kil\u00f3metros, con lo que eliminaron numerosas interferencias que ralentizan los sistemas \u00f3pticos.<\/p>\n<p>Aunque no es la alternativa m\u00e1s r\u00e1pida &#8211; otros sistemas alcanzan los 10,66 petabits &#8211; resulta interesante por su miniatura.
